Michael Roberts--Music Director

Michael Roberts was born in Sussex, England. He began playing the piano at age four.
From 1967 to 1975 Michael was production stage manager for Harold Prince in
London's West End. In 1970 he became a dance accompanist for the Royal Ballet
School. In 1975 he moved to Los Angeles where he has since worked as a dance
accompanist and composer.

Michael has appeared in numerous TV shows and the movie "Six Weeks" with Mary Tyler Moore. Michael has played for Juliet Prowse, who endorsed his original dance record albums. Michael's other compositions include three Music for Ballet Class CD's, one CD of Original Dance Compositions "Dancing Scores", One Classical/New Age CD "Farther than the Sun", Three Theater Musicals and numerous commissioned dance scores. In October 2004 he released "Original Music for the Modern Dance Class," Volume one.

Currently, Michael is hard at work as both a faculty member and music coordinator for the dance school at the California Institute of the Arts. Michael is also a faculty member of the American Ballet Theater summer intensives where he teaches Music for Dancers seminars and accompanies classes.
